Experience our Sauternes Candle, an exquisite bouquet for those looking for something rich, festive & gourmand partnered with a wine from the same region. The Muse: Nestled in a tiny region in Southern Bordeaux is the home of Sauternes, a lusciously decadent sweet wine that has garnered the name ‘Nectar of the Gods’. A wonder of nature, tiny golden grapes shrivel on the vine producing a rich, intoxicating sweet nectar redolent of dried apricot, mango, honey & crème brûlée. Housed in tiny new french barriques in dimly lit cellars it slowly matures taking on flavours of vanilla, spice and rich truffle Top Notes: Apricot, Orange Blossom, Crème Brûlée Middle Notes: All Spice, Honey, Truffle, Honey Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Vanilla The Wine: Ginestet Classique Sauternes 50cl The classic French dessert wine from Sauternes - elegant, fresh and very moreish. Grapes are sourced from vineyards within the Graves district of Bordeaux. Botrytis (noble rot) is allowed to affect the grapes, concentrating their sweetness and flavour. The grapes are hand-picked late in the vintage and, on average, it takes 3 passes through the vineyard to ensure that the maximum quantity of grapes have been beneficially affected by botrytis. The grapes are treated very carefully during pressing so as not to damage them and to maintain their delicate characteristics. A classic botrytis nose; rich in honey and sweet floral tones with hints of citrus marmalade. The palate is rich and smooth with similar sweet floral and honeyed apricot flavours but with a faintly citrus note in the finish which makes it very moreish.
